I’ve been trying to track this album down for many, many years. Since 1996, when Zach made off with my copy and moved to Seattle. Grr …
Anyway, it’s not brilliant music, but it’s cool, and poppy, and it does that thing John likes where they put sad lyrics with rocking music. I spent a whole lot of my year at Wooster up in the giant dorm attic, playing my guitar (for real, not an air guitar) along to these songs.
For trivia buffs, you may already know that Reigndance in the name of the band that Andre had in the very first season of the real world. Yes, this is that band. They put this album out a couple of years later. I stole it from the radio station at Wooster when I realized that no one there was interested in it.
As soon as I put it on yesterday, it all came back to me. I made a tape for the car the combined this album with Soul Asylum’s “Grave Diggers’ Union,” an album in much the same vein. Anyway, I still know most of the lyrics and each song was one refreshing moment after another.
