Ugh. What a weekend. I did two things this weekend. Each had me completely obsessed in turn, and each required patience then speed, then patience.
I’m talking, of course, about silk screening and the stomach flu.
So, discovery of the week is that you can make your own silk screens at home, without complicated photo emulsion processes. It takes a lot of time, yes, but it’s cheap and relatively easy. And once the screen is made, it’s just a matter of getting the right ink and a squeegee. Good times. The rather awkward photo below features me in the shirt I made last night. It’s actually two templates on one shirt. The words and the little girl are separate.
I started working on this Sunday, once I was pretty sure the flu had gone through my system completely. Of course, by the point I was so weakened (and I hadn’t eaten in 30 hours), that I had to take a nap after each step. Shop. Nap. Print. Nap. Draw. Nap. Fill screen. Nap. Check screen. Nap. Test. Print. Nap. Repeat. Ugh.
And here I am now, a day later, wondering if the feeling in my gut is from the flu again, or if it’s from the McDonalds I ate yesterday. Could be either, really. I can’t remember the last time I had McDonalds. Wait, yes I can. But I’ve promised not to talk about that.
